Viva Kunming!!!

So here is a nice shot from the airplane as we make our way west to the eternal city of spring.....Kunming. Me and Michelle kick some major butt, speaking chinese and somehow finding our way to the airport via Subway, bus, walking and in the end....a taxi. All this with our 50lb packs on our backs and chinese people laughing at us the whole way. Nevertheless, we made it. This is our lovely hostel. We are on the third floor, which is fortunate because the only womens bathroom is also on the third floor. So we are so lucky. The bathroom is just great, below you can see a demonstration of how great it is, what you DON'T see is that only one of the two stalls has a door, so if its just number one, you really don't need a door, but for number 2, you'd better wait for the stall with the door unless you are really brave. Either way, don't forget some paper or you will be SOL. Nevermind the showers that barely work. They take about 30 minutes to get warm. But really we love it here because its only about US$4 /night!!! NOw I don't care how picky you are, that is a great deal and hard to pass up!!!

Gotta get the stance just right or you will need to wipe your shoes AND your hiney.

But if you do miss, and its quite common, don't worry, you can just pay 8RMB and use the washer. Then you can just hang your clothes (or soiled socks) to dry in your wonderful room. If you are lucky like us you will have cute pink beds with boards for a matress. Its good for your back right? After a long day of walking it will straighten you right out!

This is just a nice shot from above of a market street. There are thousands and thousands of streets just like this ALL over....in fact, thats mostly what china consists of.....oh, you thought it was gardens and temples??? There are those too, but they are hard to find because they are surrounded by tall buildings.
Yes, I know its sideways, but i'm a blog rooky. These are the best noodles i've had so far. We were walking in the park and just saw a little stand. They make the noodles by hand right in front of you. These ones were VERY spicey, but very good!!! The best part....they were only 3RMB...thats about 30 cents. YUM!!!
Well, there will be more fron Kunming. Lots to see here. Have fun going to work and doing boring stuff while we are exploring the endless secrets of CHINA!!!
