Hola Hanoi!!!

So FINALLY.......we have made it to Hanoi, Vietnam. We took an overnight bus from Dali to Kunming and didn't sleep a wink, so we slept the next day in our KUnming hostel, then the next morning we took a 10 hour bus to the border of Vietnam. It was a gruelling, terrifying ride though some of the most beautiful mountains I have ever seen. There were billions and billions of banana trees and we even got to buy some local bananas. We thought we could make it to Hanoi that night, but we were soooooo tired that we decided to stay in a hotel at the border and the next morning we crossed over and after a scary ride with a "taxi" driver we made it there. We are now officially millionaires. We exchanged 800 RMB, which is a little over 100 american dollars and recieved 1.6 million Dong!!! Sweet! Well, we thought the ride to hanoi would only be about 5 hours, but when you can see scooters passing your train its a bad sign. It took us about 11 hours on hard seats to get here and lets just say my butt is going to be flat when I get home. Sorry Dennis :) Our hostel is the best i've ever seen. Its run by foreigners and has all the amenities you always wished a hostel had.....like oodles of nice computers excellent storage for your backpack....and YES! English speakers! Need I say more? Well, Hanoi is not what we expected at all....it is amazing. We walked across the street and ate at an all english Pizza place. We had greed salad, garlic bread, and veggie pizza! It was nice to eat real food after eating crackers and tea for 3 days. So....in a nutshell, we are happy and safe in Hanoi for the next few days. Cheers.
